EACR Interactive Online Workshop: How to network like a pro

Conferences offer far more than the opportunity to present your research - they are one of the most valuable environments for building relationships, discovering opportunities, and raising your profile. Yet for many early career researchers, networking can feel intimidating. 

This interactive workshop with Toni Celia-Terrassa will equip you with the tools to network strategically and maximise the career benefits of every conference you attend. The workshop will provide the structure to share your concerns and receive practical advice from members of the EACR Early Career Researchers Council, who will share strategies for networking with confidence before, during, and after scientific conferences. You'll learn how to start conversations, approach senior researchers, make meaningful professional connections, and follow up effectively to build lasting relationships. And by attending and having this conversation, you will already be practising your networking skills! 

Organised by the EACR Early Career Research Council. This event is available to EACR members only. 

A list of participants who have agreed to share their details during registration will be circulated to all participants alongside our feedback survey. Please note we consider a participant someone who spent a minimum of 20 minutes attending the networking session. 

Format

Short panel discussion with the guests followed by a free conversation in a Zoom meeting with open cameras and microphones. For part of the meeting, attendees will be split into break rooms to facilitate conversation and create an intimate atmosphere and a safe space for all attendees to be able to articulate their questions and concerns. Each break room will be moderated by a guest and/or an ECR Council member. The duration of the meeting will be 1hr 30 min. The event will not be recorded and the Chatham House Rule applies.
