Eva Rodriguez, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium
“Veni vidi vici in pancreatic cancer: profiling immune-endothelial crosstalk to uncover the enemy in the details”
Congratulations to EACR Member Eva Rodriguez from Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium who's powerful abstract has won a collaboration with Standard BioTools to perform spatially resolved, highly multiplexed whole slide biomarker analysis. Eva will explore the landscape of previously subtyped pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) samples, a cancer type that, with its immune-privileged status, continues to elude and not respond to immune checkpoint inhibitors. She aims to get a new understanding of tumour-stroma interactions, leading to the eventual conquering of this complex pathology.
Congratulations also to Gopal Iyer from the University of Wisconsin, USA, who was the non member winner of this award with his abstract “Probing senescence in resistance tumors". In addition, he has won a year’s membership of the EACR and we are delighted to welcome him into our community.
Thank you to everyone who submitted applications; the standard was very high and our reviewers had a difficult task in selecting the winners.

Application deadline: 22 March 2024
The European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) and Standard BioTools™ are accepting applications for the 2024 Spatial Biology Grant Award, which will award the two most impactful proposals in cancer research that use Imaging Mass Cytometry™ (IMC™), the chance to deeply profile the tumor microenvironment by performing spatially resolved, highly multiplexed whole slide biomarker analysis.
Two grant winners will each provide two slides to the Standard BioTools Discovery Lab. The slides can be scanned either with Standard BioTools new whole slide imaging mode or by selecting up to eight regions of interest per sample.
The competition is open to all researchers worldwide. One of the two grants will be awarded to a current EACR member. If a non-member is granted the second award, that researcher will receive a one-year EACR membership, paid in full by Standard BioTools.
