Participants may be interested in the new CaixaResearch Institute, an ambitious, state-of-the-art immunology research centre being constructed in Barcelona next to the Science Museum CosmoCaixa.

A pioneering new research centre specialised in immunology
The CaixaResearch Institute will explore how the immune system works and its relationship with the most prevalent pathologies, such as neurological, oncological and infectious diseases, and it will analyse the role of environmental factors. This mission will be carried out by prioritising a multi- and interdisciplinary approach, the development of cutting-edge technologies and the transfer of results to society for impactful health solutions. 

Supported by "la Caixa" Foundation, the centre consolidates and strengthens the Foundation’s mission, serving as a cornerstone for advancing scientific understanding and addressing critical health challenges.

During the initial phase (2025-2027) the Institute aims to establish 12 research groups led by scientists who are being carefully selected to ensure scientific excellence and a strong international presence. Once the Full Capacity phase is reached, the centre is expected to host around 45 research groups and units, with more than 500 professionals, including 425 scientists.

By December 2025, construction of the first module is expected to be complete and the facilities will be ready to accommodate the first research groups.
