EACR-funded EMBO Workshop on Communicating Research:
Paper Writing and Short Presentations

We're pleased to offer 18 free places to EACR student or early career members at this EACR-funded online training workshop facilitated by EMBO, a trusted leader in scientific publishing, communication and leadership training. Designed to empower and inspire, this workshop will give 18 EACR members invaluable insights into the fundamentals of scientific publication and effective research communication.

Explore essential topics such as manuscript structuring, figure assembly, and crafting impactful abstracts, guided by experts in the field. Gain a deeper understanding of the editorial process and peer review evaluations, essential for navigating the academic landscape.

Feedback from past participants at this well-established EMBO workshop underscores its positive and lasting impact on the quality of research and research communication. We also strongly encourage participants to share the learning and materials with colleagues, to maximise its wide-reaching benefits.

Eligibility

• You must be an EACR early career member or student member 
• You must have at least 2 years of PhD experience

Only one person per lab will be awarded a place, but we strongly encourage participants to share the workshop learning and materials with their colleagues.

The workshop will be delivered virtually via Zoom. Each participant will need their own: 

• Desktop or laptop computer (not phone or tablet) 
• Web camera and microphone. Plus headphones (if possible)
• Quiet place from which to attend with reliable internet (min. 5 Gbps download and 1 Gbps upload speeds)

• IMPORTANT: Please note that if we receive a very high number of applications we may close the call before this date, so make sure that you send your application as soon as it's ready.
• You can expect to hear the result of evaluation by 03 May 2024.

Evaluation

All applications will be evaluated fully. The Evaluation Committee will review applications and select participants based on the statement of motivation and diversity. Only one person per lab will be awarded a place.
