Grant Application Announcement
World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) International is now inviting applications for grants worldwide to fund research into the effects of food, nutrition and physical activity on cancer. Preference will be given to applications that have direct relevance to human cancer - consider diets or foods as a whole and/or use whole body systems, and use foods or dietary constituents in physiological amounts.
Funds will be prioritised for applications with relevance to WCRF International’s
research priorities, which:
1. Strengthen the evidence on topical research areas of diet and cancer
2. Evaluate life course exposures
3. Evaluate the role of body fatness and physical activity in relation
to cancer risk
4. Address behavioural change in relation to cancer risk
5. Address dietary patterns
6. Address cancer survivors
7. Improve relevant methodologies
8. Address molecular/genetic epidemiology
You can also apply for a Regional Seed Grant (start up funds for pilot research on innovative ideas) relevant to the above research criteria, which is awarded to investigators specifically from countries where WCRF International member organisations operate – France, the Netherlands, Hong Kong and the UK (excluding USA).
WCRF International may also co-fund breast cancer project grants with Breast Cancer Campaign.
Closing date for outline applications is 13th October 2008. See www.wcrf.org for full details.
