2010 EACR Young Cancer Researcher Award Lecture

This prestigious award lecture (of 20 minutes duration) is presented annually at EACR meetings.

• 2,000 Euro plus expenses (travel, accommodation and congress fees) are awarded
• Applications are invited from young cancer researchers working in Europe, under 40 years of age at the time of application, for presentation at EACR-21 Oslo, Norway 26 – 29 June 2010

2010 Mike Price Fellowship

The Mike Price Fellowship is Sponsored by EACR and ECCO - The European Cancer Organisation.

The Mike Price Fellowship exists to enable young cancer researchers to visit a European Institution in order to undertake a specific project related to cancer research, from basic science to treatment or care.

• Applications will be accepted from European cancer researchers aged under 40
• Applicants should have worked actively in cancer research for at least two years
• Proposed projects may be related to any aspect of cancer research, from basic science to treatment or care
• The duration of the Fellowships will be from 3 to 6 months
• The value of the award will be up to 12,000 Euros and will cover travel expenses to and from the host institution and an agreed stipend

Travel fellowships

This fellowship scheme is intended to assist cancer researchers to advance their research.

• The scheme is open to members of the Association (simultaneous membership and fellowship application forms are permitted) and ALL applicants must be sponsored by two members of the EACR
• EACR Travel Fellowships are intended to support research on the basis of technical exchange, including participation at workshops and courses rather than to finance the attendance of meetings
• The value of each award is up to 2,500 Euros.
• Longer-Stay Awards: Where a longer fellowship is desirable, perhaps comprising two periods of research collaboration, EACR will provide 50% match funding up to 4,000 Euros.  Applicants must clearly indicate the source of match funding on such applications as EACR will wish to make contact with the co-funders.
• There are three deadlines each year for the submission of applications

  • 30 November
• Applicants will be notified of the award approximately two months after each deadline.

Meeting bursaries

This scheme is designed to assist younger members of the Association, particularly post graduate students and members less than 35 years old, who otherwise would have major difficulties in securing funding to attend EACR main meetings.

• The value of each award will be up to 1000 Euros
• This grant will be used to assist with the cost of registration fee, travel and accommodation
• Meeting Bursaries for EACR-21 in Oslo, Norway will be available from Autumn 2009

EACR Meeting Bursary for attendance at EACR20, Lyon 5-8 July 2008

A record number of applications for Meeting Bursaries were received (95) and the scheme was extended to support the attendance of 29 Young Researchers.

We welcomed Meeting Bursary winners from  Armenia, Australia, Belarus, Brazil, Czech Republic, Finland, France (3), Germany (4), Hungary, Italy (2), Russia, Spain (4), Switzerland, The Netherlands and the UK (6).
